FLYING 4

Every day at Lott Fence we talk to someone who is mixed up about cedar lumber. If you ask and even if you do not, Danne will more than likely bore(educate) you about wood for fencing, how great Lott Fence is, etcetera[HA]. There are lots of different types cedar trees. They all have varying characteristics, but the one thing they all have in common is that they are all conifers and belong to the cypress family. At Lott Fence we only build with one variety of cedar and that is Western Red Cedar. Probably around half of all cedar used for fencing is not Western Red Cedar. See the section of LottFence.com called FENCE CENTS for more information. It is also true that a lot of wood for fencing and pickets especially is presented as another kind of cedar or Western Red Cedar when it is not a cedar at all. Lots of commercial softwoods and hardwoods are passed off as other types of forest products to the unknowing customer.
